Doing the Can Can in Cannes

keep clearIt’s not long before I board a flight to Nice! I’ve always wanted to go to the South of France and have been spending time every day brushing up on my old High School French (Merci Monsier Allen). It’s coming back to me slowly but surely. (Just not sure how often I’ll be saying things like “Ou est la Rue Saint Jaques” but that’s neither here nor there).

So the flight is booked, the studio booked, the badge has been applied for (all of this far exceeding the grant that was on offer to go, mais c’est la vie).

This weekend I’ve written and voiced a new tutorial to hopefully go on the show reel. This one is about exes being friends (it’s no easy thing to achieve at the best of times – let alone when you’re newly split).

We’ve entered a few of our animations in a festival which is pretty freakin’ exciting.

Via NsDesign – I am booked to do my first Social Media talk. A short one that will take place next month during Social Media Week Glasgow. It’s in Glasgow and it’s FREE if you happen to be in town early on a Thursday morning. It will be entitled 10 Quick Tips for LinkedIn Success.

So life is beyond busy for Thea Pia. In addition to all this, it’s high time I spoke to Tony Currie about doing another round of shows at Radio Six International. I’ve acquired so many great new tracks to wind up 2011 with.

Neglecting…Well, Me.

BLOGS!

Well I haven’t been blogging much, at least not here. I have done a few on So You’ve Been Dumped.com and even more on the NSDesign Blog – most recently about a new VOIP discovery – REBTEL (Who Doesn’t Love Cheap Calls?)

Geez, I just don’t get the time to write in any personal nature. If I do, it’s quick snippets on one of my Twitter profiles. These days I have one, main Twitter account (@newthea) but  also have a private one (for friends only), and have recently re-instated the ole @soyouvebeendump profile to share news, articles, tips, break up lines etc.

CHOONZ!

Musically speaking – I recently saw a stunning show – Angus & Julia Stone – at the ABC; and am really looking forward to catching Echo and Bunnymen stateside with some of my dearest friends (courtesy of the lovely guitarist Gx).

STORIES!

We’ll soon be launching our 3rd chapter in the So You’ve Been Dumped Stories page on Facebook. This time is a gorgeous gay chap, Matt from Boston. Really can’t wait to unveil this one!

Have you “liked” our Facebook page? You can do it from our homepage now on So Youve Been Dumped.com.

BOOKS!

Now Reading
Now Reading…

Reading some good books on Social Media: ‘The NOW Revolution’ (7 Shifts to Make Your Business Faster, Smarter, and More social) and 30-Minute Social Media Marketing by Susan Gunelius.

RADIO!

It’s high time for a return to Radio Six International. I’ll be presenting shows starting in July for a new series of Sounds Across Ecosse! It’ll likely be the best songs of the year so far.

One of which will be AM’s “Dark Into Light” which I’m currently in the throes of making a video for! It’s a gem, this one. Watch this space…

CIAO!

That’s about it. Life is good, holidays are good, there’s a spring in my step and a little love in my heart, what else could a girl ask for then? xoxo

Yet More NS Excitement!

So it’s a busy time at NSDesign – what with NEW START SCOTLAND (@NSSscotland) – which is starting tomorrow through in Edinburgh. We’ve had weeks of getting prepared for it. Well ok, not me per se, but Gary sure has! As for me, I’m looking after the office for the next few days whilst Gaz & Ken are through there.

Be out there myself this weekend though promoting our new mobile website solution! (You may have heard me talking about these….? LOL)

Then in two week’s time we’re up for seven (count’em!) awards at the RAR Awards in London. The last time we were up for awards (three different sets of awards at the end of last year) – I went out and bought four dresses. (Man, is dress shopping a bit of a depressing exercise).  Now after all that, I don’t fancy any of them, so alas I will be heading out to do it all over again!

Yes, indeed, I will go to the ball! :) Keep joking I’ll be bringing a second back to carry all the awards we win! Fun!

Back to the present though, this afternoon is a big Social Media Unleashed seminar at the Lighthouse in Glasgow.

Next week it’s the New Media Breakfast @29Glasgow and an all day seminar on the 30th too.

All this taking place before those RAR Awards. So yeah lots of NS excitement indeed.

On another note…

STORIES OF THE DUMPED:

Chapter Two – Tracy’s Story is the One About Finding Home, animated with Muvizu Software is live.

This is Tracy’s story and what a great story it is. She’s a lovely voice, some poignant remarks, and the result is an inspirational and happy five minutes (I hope) – see what you think for yourself! Make sure you “like” it won’t you?

So You’ve Been Dumped Stories – Chapter 1 “Brad”

Well I don’t generally like to cross blog but sometimes it needs to be done I guess.

So You've Been Dumped Stories - Ch 1 Brad
Chapter 1 – Brad

On Valentine’s Day, I rather deliberately launched our first Chapter in a year long series of stories of the dumped. I’d come close to editing in a normal documentary style when its star “Brad” (not his real name) decided he no longer wished to be associated with the film. To say this caused stress and a sleepless night was an understatement. At first I was VERY angry about the whole ordeal but then instead of focusing on the anger I kept asking “what is the solution?” I know all too well that hidden in every bit of misfortune good fortune rests. I figure stuff always works out eventually and this too would be the case.

So I emailed Ziggy who’s done some of my previous SYBD Break Up Line animations and pretty much begged him to animate the story. This way Brad could remain anonymous and I would still be able to get the story out there.

Ziggy, the professional that he is, came through in less than forty-eight hours, bless him.

Here we are two days after launching the video and we’ve had around a hundred and twenty views. (I wish rather wish it were a thousand and twenty views, but a hundred and twenty isn’t too bad.

The feedback is good so far as well. My concern is that the valid, universal and often  inspirational message may be lost in the lightness of delivery (via animation).

There are already a few other animations being created to launch over the coming months.  The ones I am currently looking at were ones that didn’t make the film due to my incompetence at filming!  (Or in one case because the person said they only wanted to do audio not video)

The stories are good and hopefully people find them compelling. There’s the fifty year old guy who’d logged on at the end of his 16-month rebound relationship. There’s the Texan gal who was dumped 1000 miles from home in the City By the Bay and there’s the young lad who was dumped by his first boyfriend.

Hope people enjoy them as we roll this out into a series.
