It’s Just a Ride

Death - Warning Sign
Danger: Death

Last week at work I heard the producers of a new Bill Hicks documentary on 6Music or something.

It sounded good, and so I made a mental note to tune into BBC4 to see the film on Sunday.

Then, as usual, I forgot. Thankfully there’s the iPlayer to watch it on (if you’re in the UK, I recommend you check it out). So I came straight in from work and fired it up.

I’ve set aside 90 minutes to watch it which these days is rare. A tear did fall at the end, even though I knew how the story would end, I still found myself wishing for a different ending. Just like I do with so many things in life, so many friendships and so many relationships too.

Sadly this isn’t Hollywood. People come and people go. It’s all “Just a Ride”. Those were Bill’s parting words in this documentary. And besides, let’s face it, none of us gets out of here alive…

Anyway the doc was nicely made. Semi-animation with documentary footage and photos. I especially loved the hybrid nature (it’s exactly what I’m hoping to do with my own film).

Anyway the days are getting shorter and as it’s 7:32pm, I think I’ll go take a run and think about what I’ve just seen.

Tomorrow I am delighted to say will be a trip to Loch Lomond for a spa day with Derek. Awesome. A little R&R and a soak in the mud sounds heavenly right around now.

The Cannes prep has been extensive and it’s been a little exhausting. (Not complaining – just saying). Still have to arrange business cards or postcards, and perhaps some branded USB sticks too. So much to do, so little time! Wish me luck x

Doing the Can Can in Cannes

keep clearIt’s not long before I board a flight to Nice! I’ve always wanted to go to the South of France and have been spending time every day brushing up on my old High School French (Merci Monsier Allen). It’s coming back to me slowly but surely. (Just not sure how often I’ll be saying things like “Ou est la Rue Saint Jaques” but that’s neither here nor there).

So the flight is booked, the studio booked, the badge has been applied for (all of this far exceeding the grant that was on offer to go, mais c’est la vie).

This weekend I’ve written and voiced a new tutorial to hopefully go on the show reel. This one is about exes being friends (it’s no easy thing to achieve at the best of times – let alone when you’re newly split).

We’ve entered a few of our animations in a festival which is pretty freakin’ exciting.

Via NsDesign – I am booked to do my first Social Media talk. A short one that will take place next month during Social Media Week Glasgow. It’s in Glasgow and it’s FREE if you happen to be in town early on a Thursday morning. It will be entitled 10 Quick Tips for LinkedIn Success.

So life is beyond busy for Thea Pia. In addition to all this, it’s high time I spoke to Tony Currie about doing another round of shows at Radio Six International. I’ve acquired so many great new tracks to wind up 2011 with.
